Senator Pat Wiggins, D-Santa Rosa, is becoming a very sad story. For at least the last year or so, she’s been suffering from unnamed “medical condition” (the words belong to her aides who, when they do speak about their boss, say virtually nothing about what actually ails her). This condition makes her “irritable,” say her aides, which is an understatement, given this Feb. 18 Sacramento Bee story[1]:
Sen. Pat Wiggins, D-Santa Rosa, interrupted a committee hearing Wednesday afternoon, screaming and racing toward committee staff who apparently had failed to refill a water canister that she found empty after the hearing’s lunch break.
Another committee member had to intervene — blocking the 69-year-old lawmaker from the young staff members — before an aide to Wiggins led the senator back to her seat.
Here’s CalWatchdog reporter Katy Grimes’ January story[2] on Wiggins, who is not running for reelection this year. While there are undeniable privacy issues involved — who among us would want any “medical condition” discussed in the press? — Wiggins remains a lawmaker who sits on committees and votes on legislation.
