Steve, Steve, Steve. You are SO confused. All I am EVER interested in seeing from Obama would be that he keep just one promise he makes. I know that sort of thing does not interest you because you get all excited by his progressive agenda and think anything he does is just peachy.

Larry would have rather seen Obama stick to public funding, get outspent 50 to 1 by the Republican fat cats, and get his butt kicked.

I'm not one of those left-wing or right-wing ideologues who would rather lose than budge an inch or change his mind. I believe that what Vince Lombardi said about football is equally true of politics: Winning isn't everything; it's the only thing."

And just as the left-wing zealots who voted for Nader in 2000 caused Gore to lose to Bush/Cheney, I am hopeful the Tea Bagger zealots will do the same thing to the Republicans in 2010 and 2012.

Gene, you've got to be joking. How, pray tell, do you "limit how much campaigns spend"? How do you "limit how much funding campaigan contributors contribute"?

Are you sayng that candidates who are busting their butts to get reelected
will voluntarily limit what their campaigns spend? Are you saying that the fat cats who are seeking to influence politicans with their support will willingly limit how much they contribute?

If you believe that any of this will happen without strict campaign laws, I would suggest you return home immediately to wait for visits from the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny.

You are absolutely correct. This would open the door and democrats in the legislature would plow through it post haste. It would be a disaster. As mad as voters & the general public is at Sacramento & DC, my bet is that all propositions will be defeated on June 8.

The thought of lobbiests paying for election expenses IS attractive. However it would leave any candidate that accepted public funding at a disadvantage to those who choose to self-finance. Does anybody think that the private financing would not be raised until the public funding reached its' maximum and is cut off?
