We need more debates between Meg and Steve

The debate today[1] between Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner finally gave voters a reason to take interest in this campaign, a month before the election. They both got digs in at each other over their financial situations and the immigration issue.

But, curiously, neither one could name[2] an initiative they’d like repealed. That should have been easy. For starters: the bullet-train boondoggle. Just last Friday, two days ago, the state Auditor criticized it as a boondoggle[3]. The bond was for $9.7 billion.

With the state’s finances such a disaster, putting a repeal on the ballot in November is a must.

Is either of these two ready for prime time with Jerry Brown in November? As I’ve been saying, they need more practice debating each other. They should hold two debates a week until the June election.
