Republicans are pushing a bill to create a Ronald Reagan Day [1]— a state day honoring the former president. Although it wouldn’t give state employees another paid day of idleness, this proposal is a bit silly. Reagan was a decent governor and a great president, but Republicans should spend less time on such meaningless symbolism and more time on the real work of limiting government — something even Reagan couldn’t manage in his eight years as president.
