Attempting to find room for all the inmates in California should scream out to any rational person we have too many inmates serving too long of sentences. What the legislators should be doing is what every expert has been telling them for years now. Reduce the prison population by amending tough on crime laws that were overkill from the beginning. Three Strikes, the war on drugs that targets users along with a broken parole system and Board of Prison Commission that should have been replaced years ago with judges that understand the nature of sentencing. Sadly few legislators have any political will or guts to challenge the special interest that thrive from packed prisons that lead other state agencies in run away spending! California needs now more than ever to become smart on crime!
