Interesting timing on this piece, with the Bee editorializing concurrently that it’s time for Sacramento to finally stop killing Delta smelt with its poorly treated pollution, and upgrade its archaic sewage treatment plant. Of course, upgrading the plant would require an increase in rates above the CPI. Sacramento’s solution? Force Southern California water users to pay for their new sewage plant. NO WAY! We paid for our state-of-the-art treatment facilities; Sacramento needs to pay for its own and not come begging for an undeserved handout that no doubt will be squandered.

Following the leadership of SEIU at the national level, the locals appear to be driving to collapse the system, Cloward-Piven style. They might want to consider that a collapsed system cannot pay anybody’s retirement.

I suspect there WILL be a sewage spill. Just not an ACCIDENTAL sewage spill — though it will be designed to appear that way.

BTW, the planners are NOT incompetent. As smart employees (and politicians beholden to said employees), they are gaming the system. They win, literally at the expense of everyone else.

This would be a typical “Alinski” response; never let a crisis go to waste and, if necessary, create a crisis on demand.
