Ballot initiatives results vary

Katy Grimes: From City of Sacramento races, to the state of Ohio Governor’s race, election predictions appear to be coming true, and not. In other words, election results are all over the place.

And the ballot initiatives in California are as well.

The latest results I saw show that the marijuana legalization measure, Prop 19, was losing.

Prop 20, the redistricting measure was winning.

Prop 21, an $18 DMV fee to support state parks, was losing.

Prop 22 which would prevent the state from using local funds while simultaneously expanding redevelopment districts is winning.

Prop 23 which would suspend California’s global warming law was losing.

Prop 24 which would repeal business tax breaks is losing.

Prop 25, requiring a majority vote by the legislature to pass a state budget instead of two-thirds, is winning.

Prop 26 which would require a two-thirds vote to pass fees and taxes, is winning.

And the next Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner, (Ohio),  just received a phone call from President Obama offering congratulations.
