My wife and I are both engineers. We left California in 2007. A big issue was the fact that we were paying over $800/month in income taxes. Furthermore, housing costs and everything else was expensive. We left to Texas and our life has improved greatly financially.

Leaving in 2007 was a great move. Leaving is a no-brainer.

Many of us here in Calif. are awake, and are screaming at the top of our lungs! but we have been taken over by progressive libs who keep getting re-elected by the clueless droans! They are ruining our once prosperous state! We can only hope and pray that all the common sense conservatives, our only salvation, don't leave the state in droves! HELP!

BEN FRANKLIN HAD IT RIGHT.IF YOU DON'T LEARN FROM HISTORY, YOU'RE DOOMED TO REPEAT IT. I will never understand the idiocy of California voters, continuously voting in those who always spend more then we as state residents can ever hope to pay off. Arnold Schwarzenegger was GOP in name only. While Davis was a loser, Arnold threw us all under the bus. I'm wondering if all those that voted for Brown ( "I won't owe anybody. HAH ")can deny his supporters anything they ask for, including increases in pensions, infrastructure, plus no layoffs. The prison guards and CHP seem to do the best of getting money from the state coffers, but on the other hand, don't receive Social Security. If you're not in a FIRE,LIFE and SAFETY position, rank and file state workers pay into pension ( 5% after 1st $541 of salery) and also pay regular social security taxes.

Amazing! Only in California is a 20% budget deficit not considered a disaster waiting to happen. High unemployment, out of control bureaucracies demanding even greater pay and benefits, lavish lifesyles for Sacramento legislators and staff (vehicle purchases), a bankrupt education system, dwindling farm output all demand immediate attention. The problem is not that hard to fix, really. Do not spend more than you take in, period.

Last I heard, S. Perry, was that Sac State was a pretty liberal place. Good try, won't fly. If you believe your CA government officials over an independent study, then you deserve what you've got here---high unemployment, high taxes, high food prices, agriculture (once our greatest export) dying for lack of water in the Central Valley, small businesses (and large) and taxpayers leaving the state in droves, while we import illegals and losers who live off the state's entitlement programs, which YOU pay for. WAKE UP!!!!!!!

It is unfortunate how much truth is in this article. I only wish that Mr. Brown had some sense of how to deal with this mess. The harsh reality is that he will just make it worse. I am also considering a California departure. I've been here 26 years and all I see are the Left Wing loonies controling everything. And, it all just gets worse with each passing year. My web site is www.hollywoodrepublican.net if you care to get a different viewpoint from the Hollywood Establishment.

The CSU-Sacremento study was a psuedo-scientific "study" paid for by conservatives who were trying to push Prop. 23. The Legislative Analyst said that it had "major problems involving both data, methodology and analysis" making its conclusions "unreliable."
