Assemblyman Nestande:

Thanks very much for your comment on my story. I must say though that I'm slightly mystified about the issue of your 2010 contributions to the state Republican Party. My source for saying you had made any contributions was this page from the California Secretary of State's Cal-Access website showing campaign contributions made from your Nestande for Assembly 2010 committee: http://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1314551&session=2009&view=contributions.

As you can see from the list, there are no contributions to the CRP during 2010 listed. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide to clear up the matter.

Mr. Pignataro,
I apologize for not respnding to your request for an interview. The events of the day got beyond me and I forgot to return your call.
I would like to say that Connie Conway became Republican leader because most caucus members believe she has the skill set to lead us through a very difficult time for our party and our state. I am personally impressed with Connie's integrity and ability to deal with various people on a multitude of issues and communicate those meetings back to caucus members. One her many strengths is excellent communication skills. Those skills will help ensure caucus unity as we move into very intense budget negotiations. I am honored that Connie chose me to be caucus chair and I will serve her with loyalty and with a shared dedication to the people of California.
Furthermore, for the record I contributed $31,000 to the state party last year.
