GOP Siding With Big Government

Steven Greenhut: The vote is still open in the Assembly on legislation to end redevelopment, with most Republicans voting to save these big-government, corporate-welfare-doling, eminent-domain-abusing agencies. The bill is now four votes short of passage, so thank the likes of GOP union hacks Jim Silva and Brian Nestande for saving these programs. It’s pretty bad when John Perez is fighting against wasteful government and the Reps are siding with central planning and against fiscal responsibility. This gives the lie to the idea that Republicans favor limited government and low taxes. They love big government and high taxes, but want the money to go to their favored programs. Maybe Perez can twist enough arms from the eight non-voters to save the day. I’m rooting for him.
