Correa Wants To Kill 3rd Parties

Steven Greenhut: Sen. Lou Correa, D-Santa Ana, has introduced a bill that has passed out of committee that will effectively put the final nail in the coffin of third parties. SB205[1] bans anyone from paying people to ask others to change their registration. This limits one of the key avenues smaller parties have to get new registrants. Correa basically works for the public employee unions, and they can register all the new Democratic voters they want without having to pay people. In Correa’s twisted world, the unions don’t have enough power as it is. Correa, by the way, authored legislation in 1999 that vastly expanded pensions. He is the man most responsible for the state’s soaring pension debt. He’s a nice guy but an enemy of open government and taxpayers.
