This is an example of the Fox Butterworth paradox e.g., "Prison population soars though crime rate is falling." In fact, the crime rate is falling BECAUSE the prison population is soaring.

Thus, governance of California is so bad BECAUSE the ruling class is so educated.

Our institutions of higher learning have been propagandizing for years. UC system in California comes to mind with this analysis. They have spawned the socialist agenda since the late 60's. In observing the Assembly Appropriations Committee in action, as well as the legislators, it is abundantly clear their higher education didn't include economics, statistics, or common sense. They cannot even grasp the simple math principles. Less formally educated individuals who have become educated and effective business owners and entrepreneurs are more qualified to legislate. Legislating with another's agenda who is controlling YOUR decisions to create a larger, all controlling governing body politic power is the heart of the problem. Best reason I know of eliminating special interest influence.

I don’t know, about that, cakester. Some of our worst and most expensive legeslation has been proposed by the educated compassionate elete. One man’s (or woman’s) “moral imparative” is all too often another’s wasteful rabbit hole.

And that, I think, was the REAL point of this article. Less educated representatives are less likely to socially engineer an otherwise sound economy.

The "educated" are more likely to elect their fellow "educated" - but too often their uncompassionate, a-moral, & ethically bankrupt - by their training - like lawyers & bankers.

Weed those two unrepresentative professions out of elected service (throw-out the professional war-mongers, too) - & maybe we'd still have a chance at saving the patient. The one they can't help but destroy - by their training ...
