This goes to show that not all dems are bad people. I really like this Portantino fella. With his abrasive and 'go screw yourself' attitude I want to learn more about his story and how he managed to climb as high as he has in Sacramento politics. People like him who rock the boat and ask the wrong questions are generally sabotaged at a much lower level. By the time you become an Assemblyman or Senator loyalty and obedience to the overlords is practically a given. I heard Portatino even voted against Gov. Clown's budget. He really deserves some kudos. The internal pressure must be enormous.

There is only one reason to reject a bill that protects legislative whistleblowers - and that is to protect a corrupted system. No other excuse is acceptable. Even if it is true that it would cost the Auditor another $400,000 in operating expenses - so what? How much money would it save the state on the back end by reducing waste, fraud and theft? If the state can find an additional $65M to fund college educations for illegal invaders - why can't it fork over another $400,000 to fight waste, fraud and theft???
