I agree, Katy. It shouldn't be the public school's responsibility to feed the students and it certainly shouldn't be the taxpayer's responsibility to pay for it. If the kids get free breakfast and free lunch at school 5 days a week it is deducted from the family's food stamp allotment? Figure the odds. And we have 46 million americans on food stamps.

Don't we have the tail wagging the dog here??? The kids don't like the healthy food so they're going to bring back the burgers and pizza??? :D The problem with america is that food is so plentiful that no one ever goes hungry. Not only do they want the food free-of-charge. 9 year olds demand the right to decide what's going to be on the menu!

I think a good famine is one of the best things that could happen to America.

If the liberals running schools weren't trying to so hard to replace parents, more children would bring snacks and lunch to school. Instead, parents have abdicated their responsibility, and allowed the school to feed their kids. What an embarrassment. But this generation of parents knows no shame and lacks pride.

Growing up, I was responsible for making the daily sack lunches for my family. I still bring my lunch so that I can eat what I want, and not the garbage that more people eat. It was good training.

When I was a kid if I didn't like the food mom and dad put on the table I went hungry for the evening. If I spit it out at the dinner table I was automatically grounded for the weekend.

For most of these kids the taxpayer is paying for their food at LAUSD. If they don't like the school food discontinue it and have them brown bag it like we used to have to do. I never got a free breakfast or lunch at my schools. Neither did any of my classmates. How many of you did?

Schools are supposed to deliver education, not free food.

The attitude of entitlement in 2012 is breathtaking.

I guess this is just another sign of the times.
