I work for a charter school. I believe in having options, but I also see that education reform in California is a delicate surgery. It takes us a couple years to get a new charter school up to high performing levels. I am happy to see more of them popping up in CA but I am also glad to see it only happening gradually. Where I live in Oakland there are so many charter schools, and many of them not doing much better than the public schools around them. This only errodes the public opinion of the effectiveness of the charter schools, when the charter schools expand faster than meeting the actual needs of their students. And of course, money is always an issue. My hope beyond hope is that public schools will learn how to use money wisely (like many charters are forced to do) BEFORE money is taken away from them and made into vouchers. Unfortunately, taking away money and then expecting the public schools to adjust (because their charter counterparts can do it) doesnt work and only hurts the public school kids in the process. All in all, I am for whatever best benefits the children, not unions, not democrats or republican. Just as we charters are void of unions, we are also void of takes sides polically. We only ask for people to think of the children and put away the D or the R.

Direct election of the chief executive, President or governor, makes a multi party situation untenable. The Democratic Party is a pure kleptocratic party. People vote Democrat in exchange for being given something (other people's money, other people's children, other people's lives) that is not rightfully theirs. There are unfortunately lots of people willing to sell their immortal souls for a few coins from the state treasury. the Democratic party is thus beyond reform.

The Republican Party is divided between true believers in our founding principles and a corrupt elite set that talks the talk but sells us out all the time for personal rewards. The revolution must begin inside the Republican Party.

Political parties in California are still pretty much dominated by the two big parties - Democrats and Republicans. We are starting to see inroads made by other parties such as The Green Party and Libertarian Party. However we are still a ways off from a multi party system here in the state.
