Chucksters, These are same CA environmentalist who believe that Anthrogenic Global Warming is occurring. even as the the decadal temp history 2001-2011 shows that 2011 was colder than 1998. These pseudo-scientists are doing their best to destroy the ability of less-developed people to better themselves, all in the name of preserving the earth!

If the governor had any sense, he would start go for both this oil, as well as the 60+% of shale oil that California has in the interior, as compared to the rest of the country.

I was working on an offshore platform in the Santa Barbara Channel when the unfortunate spill occured in 1969. The "spill" was not the fault of any oil company. They were following government approved plans. It just so happened that the most shallow formation of oil, (the same formation that seeps on its own during very low tides and probably the same one that seeped during Cabrillo's voyage) was charged with gas pressure because the casing design did not require any protection.

What really made the whole thing into a mess was that the "spill" happened right after heavy rains that washed whole orchards and dead livestock out of the coastal mountains and into the ocean. Then the ocean tossed everything back onto the beaches in piles sometimes 10 to 15 feet high. When the oil came gushing from the ocean bottom, lots of the oil wound up coating all the brush and livestock that was piled on the beach.

Oh! Let's not forget the crazed media and eco-nazis that came from everywhere to witness the mess and go on camera denouncing all oil companies and any offshore exploration. The media were even given permission to come offshore and interview us workers. After they televised our interviews and twisted our answers, we all knew what we faced.

All eco-nazis can go to H#*l. The media today, and then is full of commies. If I had been a very rich man in 1969, I would have bought up all the coastal land from Ventura to Point Conception, bulldoze every structure and drilled up everything worth producing. My purchase of all the coastal properties would have paid off over and over in oil and gas production.

I would have even allowed sea lion hunts.
