SD GOP Snubs Pro-Union Candidate

Steven Greenhut: The San Diego Republican Party gave its support for mayor to Carl DeMaio, the pension-reforming, no-nonsense conservative, over two other candidates including Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, who is closely allied with the police unions and amassed the most liberal Republican voting record in the Assembly. DeMaio is the only one in the race who can be counted on to actually reform the state’s pension system, so it was nice to see the GOP able to recognize the real Republican rather than the pro-union Republican In Name Only.
