“Unfortunately the project is not dead yet and everyone needs to remind their legislators that you expect them to act responsibly for the entire state and our future”
Yeah sure, write and call your legislators. That’s worked for the past 15 years, hasn’t it? They don’t give a damn about what you have to say. They work for the special interests. Grow up.
The only way we get a game changer is if the economy blows up or one morning the sheeple wake up and collectively refuse to pay their property taxes.
Don’t hold your breath.</b>

Beelz, I did not even see your post-and I posted almost the exact SAME response as you did. We think identically.

This is not the first time I have made a comment, only to see later you made a similar comment before me!

LOL..are you for real???

Politicians act responsibly??? Hahahhaahah!!!!!!!!!!! Good one!

If they did we would never in a million years be in a half trillion dollar pension deficit.

They will never act responsibly because THEIR well being comes above the average, middle class taxpayer.

They only care about themselves and their continuing power in office-which takes special interest money to get there and to stay there, and THE SPECIAL INETRESTS are the only ones who benefit.

The article by S. Fred Singer, “Cheap Natural Gas Heralds an Energy Revolution”
http://bit.ly/HNszZw talks about cheap natural gas becoming the dominant energy source for the nation. displacing both coal and nuclear power. He notes that the EPA's finding that "CO2 is a pollutant is about to have its day in court soon. I think that key parts of AB32 are still due for a federal court review, perhaps at SCOTUS, as discussed by Cal Watchdog. So there is still some hope that this lunacy will be undone.

Did the cost of each job created by this project remind anyone of other failed attempts to create jobs?

Thank you for this important summary of the history of Prop1a and the CHSRA. As a life long Democrat I'm appauled by the willingness of the very people I voted for to consider funding this project as it bears little resemblance to what was passed in 2008. The utter disrespect for what was voted for is only surpassed by the cavalier attitudes towards the communities that will be destroyed in the process. .

Excellent article. I wish that ( as for also very good article by Prof. White ) a bit more attention will be expressed to damage that this outrageous project will impose on peninsula cities. I think that we must, together with cirrent legal actions, to consider more energetic forms of protest of citizens whose lives will be ruined by this project. M. R.

Thank you for the article which is a documentation of the reality of the High-Speed Rail program. Unfortunately the project is not dead yet and everyone needs to remind their legislators that you expect them to act responsibly for the entire state and our future. A short term gain for regional rail is not what was envisioned when the voters voted in November 2008. The voters did not prioritize regional rail over education. The debt service that will result from the sale of the bonds will damage education and other social programs in the state as well as cause the loss of jobs. Tell your leaders in Sacramento to do the right thing and vote no. Voting yes is a devastation for our state's future.
