President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela decreed that the public could use other people's private swimming pools. The private pool owners all reacted by draining their pools.

Years from now, scores of inner city children will drown because they never learned to swim after their neighborhood pools were shut down. After one too many laws were imposed by the government, pool owners eventually realized that one of the greatest joys in life is to be able to say, "Screw it; I don't need to put up with this."

Hotels, motels, etc. will just get rid of their pools. So the government will kill off the tourism industry, too.

– John Seiler

That's right John, the guvment. And then with no tourist industry people will be forced to just have "stay-cations" (tm) which in essence means they will just stay home for two weeks a year probably watching Laverne and Shirley on tv and maybe cleaning out their garages more often. The US Dept of Trade, Division of Home Safety estimates that each month there are 7 to 10 thousand garage related deaths in this Country of which about 3-4 thousand are estimated to be traumatic lacerations from tool related lacerations.

These people will seek help primarily in emrgency rooms (tm) but only 47% will have the required health insurance to obtain the proper care. Those that do not obtain care and the estimated 76% who contract hospital related infections will on average miss 145 days of work lowering the gross domestic product by .193 %. This further drag on the economy will result in at least 120,000 wealthy tax free "job creators" moving at least 897 jobs off shore per month for cheaper labor which will further exacerbate our current issues.

I think it would be easier to pay the phony claims and then let the crooks spend the money in the underground medical marijuana economy thereby allowing for a "trickle down" benefit to the working poor, I mean middle class.

If I were one of those store owners sued by one of the ex-con ADA 'victims' I would fight them to the very end - I don't give a damn how much it cost. I would make a HUGE statement for all to see. I'll be damned if I'd fold and give in. Not this boy!!! :D

Thank you for pointing out yet another example of our slide into tyranny. I don't know what's worse - Obama's ruling that pools must comply with ADA requirements and install lifts, or California's legislature deciding we all have to hire certified pool experts.

Far fewer publicly accessible pools. That's the result.

I read a story this morning about ex-cons who are disabled (some during the commission of a crime) and make a nice living by targeting mom & pop stores and filing suits against them for violating ADA laws. The normal settlement payoff is $4000 but court costs increase it to $12000. The system allows it and is totally complicit. It is truly a system out of control. More "victims" venting their anger through the gamed legal system at good, productive people who are only trying to survive economically. And the Sactown buffoons can't understand why revenue continues to plummet and the deficit continues to grow larger.

The government wants to create as many 'victims' as possible in society. When a new 'victim' is created it magnifies the importance of the government. It forces all the non-victim to accomodate the 'victims' and there must be an enforcement arm to force non-victims into compliance. Victimhood is like a petri dish for government. It's lifeblood. And it's impossible for a real producer to be a 'victim'. His job is to carry the 'victim' on his shoulders. They are truly killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. That's why revenue is consistently down during a so-called econ recovery in California. As I told you before - your only real intelligent options in modern day California is to either be filty rich or dirt poor. Anywhere inbetween you're screwed.

Not really. Kalifornia is off all the scales now. They will not end untill they legislate the end of all life in the state. You might as well leave now before the legislature gives everyone a 3 day notice to vacate the state. Everyone is being evicted to save the snails.
