Not that it matters much. Out of all career politicians, Feinstein is probably one of the hardest to unseat in this whole country. Even her fellow Democrats are afraid to go up against her. That’s why no one with serious clout or political reputation went into this race.

But let’s be optimistic. For all we know, Emken could be the David that slays Goliath.

Emken finished fourth out of four in a Republican Primary two years ago to challenge for Jerry McNerney’s congressional seat. Emken didn’t even win her own county in this four-county district. She fared so poorly despite spending $450,000, nearly half of it her own money.

Part of the problem is that Emken is not a natural pol. She has a stiff personality and too often a deer-in-the-headlights look. She will be creamed by DiFi in the debate.

Is this the best the state GOP could come up with? If so, they should disband the party. If not, they need to do a better endorsement process next time. One suggestion is a televised and/or webcast debate with all of the Republican candidates, followed by an online poll.

You are correct that this is California so the bad guys (and gals) usually win, but don’t fault her for trying.

Strengthen the anti-business structure of California.

Reward those who do not work by allowing them to remain on TANF (Welfare).

Raise taxes on those who create jobs so that they will have less money to spend, thus hire less people.

California is tax addicted, and its “give me” people are addicted to Government Services, Feinstein will give the “give me” people even more. The “give me” people of California will not hear the calls for them to take responsibility and get themselves right. Like all addicts, they do not see they have a problem. California’s tax addiction has been ignored for too long. Now California is about to OD and the government is crying out for a new source of taxes for its addiction. However, the fact is that no matter how much of our taxes are coming in to the government, it will never be enough. They are addicted! I will miss California. Too bad that no one was willing to force it into rehab. Moreover, as California goes so goes the nation.

It’s only Wednesday night, Dys, so I don’t think I’ll be out for a nice lager or porter this evening. I may meet some of my retired public service friends tomorrow evening to enjoy camaraderie and friendship over a nice Coors Light or two, swap some jokes, and play the jukebox. My preference in music runs more toward early R&R and doo-wap, rather than Munich beer hall dirges.

ironbob is another one of those guys who keeps thinking Reagan will return and make him feel good about himself again. Apparently he doesn’t know it was Reagan and his Republican cronies who killed and ate the pony 30 years ago.

Let’s not tell him….
