You folks have to remember something here. It is that the members of the safety commission are politically to the left of Guv Mooonbeam and Barbara Boxer as is the entire city council and the Mayor too. So for the Occupiers to call them right wing is insane. The Occupiers are so far to the left they are coming up on the right.

I am partially sympathetic to the Occupy types here. Surely using any of the above items such as clubs, large wrenches, fireworks or fire accelerants to intimidate or injury police officers or the public is already illegal. This penchant for making objects illegal because they might be used illegally is tyrannical in nature and unnecessary to protect the public. Talk about a slippery slope problem, sheesh. It is this type of idiotic thinking that has made throwing stars, nunchucks, blow guns and many types of pocket knives illegal in this fascistic state.

Furthermore what is wrong with carrying a defensive shield at a demonstration to protect oneself from being killed or injured by police projectiles? Why not just make self defense illegal and be done with it. There are already sufficient means at the disposal of the authorities to deal with violent demonstrators who cause property damage or injure others. If the “progressive” empty suits who run Oakland can’t control demonstrators to protect public safety it’s probably because they lack the political courage to do so, not the means.

Sometimes the flak catchers deserve to be mau mau’ed.
