I’ll go half way in agreeing with you. The war in Iraq should have ended as soon as the floorboard was pulled out from under Saddam. We should have packed up and came home. The Iraqis can fend for themselves and if the kill each other well, that’s their problem. We just take several million gallons of oil as payment for services rendered.

Invading Afghanistan was never going to work without taking out Pakistan too. My theory of war is that it should be short and extremely lethal-period. General George S. Patton put it succinctly when he said: “the object of war is not to die for your country; it’s to make the other poor dumb bastard die for his.” If we fought wars today that way, they would be over quickly.

Out side of that, we should not have military personnel and bases in Europe. They had the luxury of indulging themselves in socialism because the never had to pay the costs of defending themselves. We should close the bases, bring our troops and hardware home and not spend a nickel more to defend them.

The same goes for foreign aid. Foreign aid should be based on “what have you done for us lately and what do we get in return for our money?” Countries that don’t support us shouldn’t get a dime. And while we’re at it, the UN should be relocated to Europe. We’ll pay for the upkeep of our diplomats and not a dime more.

Welfare? No, workfare. Nothing’s free. Illegal Immigration problem? Close the borders,build military bases along the border and deport ALL illegals to their countries of origin. We’ll consider extenuating circumstances on a case by case basis for grants of green cards and permits to be in the country. Any and all government services will be afforded ONLY to American citizens and LEGAL immigrants with the proper documentation.

And lastly Israel: Israel is our friend but friendship is a two-way street. We should loan them money with generous terms but with a promissory note to pay it back in full or we’ll take the patent rights to some of their technological developments in lieu of cash if it’s useful and lucrative to us.

Under the scenario I just gave, we’ll save billions. The task afterwards will be to keep congress from spending it.
