I believe locksmiths should be licensed and registered. This is a person to whom you are entrusting your safety, not to mention offering them unlimited access to your car or home at some point in the future if they are dishonest.

BUT, why license dog groomers. If you mess up my dog's haircut, or charge me too much, or my dog growls at you I'll go somewhere else. I am sure that some dog died because a groomer did something wrong, so everyone must be punished for their error.

This is one business a person can start and run with very little overhead, so we had better regulate it out of existence so the jobless rate can climb higher.

While we're on the subject, why does every person have to be an employee now. You can't even hire the neighbor kid to mow your lawn without having work comp and paying payroll taxes, if you provide the lawn mower and tell them when to be there.

Our small airport shuttle service had grown to where we needed someone to occasionally cover us, so we could make it to the grandkids games or take a little vacation without inconveniencing our clients. Probably a grand total of 10 to 40 hours a month. You won't believe the amount of time, money and effort it took to make our neighbor a legal employee. Now I have to pay a service to handle my books, because the government requirements are so strict and confusing.

The restrictions and regulations currently in place are not meant to help folks get started with an entry level business. That's why so many of those little lawn services, house painters, housekeepers and other solo professions fly below the radar and do not pay any taxes on their income.

Forcing dog groomers to be formally trained, regulated and licensed will just cause them to join the ranks of those who won't get a business license or pay income taxes on their earnings, because the process to conform has become too difficult and restrictive.

Well ok if it moves let's license it. How about we start with the California legislature? There's enough slapping of gums, gnashing of teeth and movement of lips to keep a well heeled regulator happy. We need to license those mouths. After all they can one hell of a lot of damage with those damn things. I think a year long course in the appropriate use of the mouth is in order - what say you?

Mr. Queeg:

I would like nothing better but I must say when someone proffers cheap political slogans as an argument I make it a point to be an irritant to those folks by driving them away with an objurgating comment. If they are thinking and rational people, the will respond with a thoughtful cogent comment and if not, good riddance.

We can either agree or disagree but let's do it objectively and base it on factual evidence while leave the petty partisan politics out of it. The problems California faces today affects us all us and it past time we bridge the political divide and discuss those issues honestly and objectively. That is what I would like to do absent the puerillism of some of the folks in this forum.

Ted Steele:

Sorry if you're a little lower on the ladder of intelligence. I'll keep my comments short and simple and within your level of comprehension Perhaps a pithy liberal slogan or a nursery rhyme is more your speed?
