Gov. Jerry Brown now insists that those who question global warming — excuse me, “climate change” — are in “denial[2].” Well, what’s he doing?
Here’s something new he can do to combat global warming in California: Shut down all air conditioning to government buildings.
Doing so would save hundreds of millions of dollars a year to the state treasury. It also would reduce reliance on electricity, thus reducing the production of greenhouse gases in California. Doing this alone would move the state far along toward meeting the AB 32 requirements of cutting greenhouse gases 25 percent by 2020. That’s now a little more than 7 years away. Better start innovating to get there, governor.
Also, air conditioning should be removed from all government vehicles, including those the governor uses.
It’s worth remembering that air conditioning wasn’t common in buildings and cars until about 50 years ago. Yet California thrived in the decades before that. It can do so again.
