Opposition to cap-and-trade legislation to reduce global warming pollution is a common refrain among many Republican and a few Democratic officials this fall. The program is derided as a “cap-and-tax” that would drain voters’ wallets while bankrupting the nation. But ironically enough, the three most recent Republican presidents promoted cap-and-trade, including Ronald Reagan. They employed such a system to phase out lead in gasoline, cut chlorofluorocarbons and other ozone-depleting chemicals, and reduce sulfur pollution from power plants responsible for acid rain — all without undue cost. Officials who are criticizing it now are doing so for political purposes, and they could likely make it harder to employ cost-effective, market-based policies in the future to significantly lower pollution at an affordable cost.

To the Ted’s of the world, you can not control the weather no matter what you believe. If this planet is going to warm up, you will not stop the process in any way, and if the planet begins cooling the same applies.

The ruse of “Weather Cultists” ideology is the control of individual freedom of every citizen not connected to the RAGWUS. 🙂

Mr Steele probably never studied geography/geology enough to realize that through the history of earth ice caps much bigger than the polar caps have been built and then retreated. The Yousemite Valley was carved by a retreating ice cap for example. Did homo sapiens run around crying out “global warming”? I think not.

Mr. Steel, the Antarctic polar cap ice is growing. East Antarctica sea ice has been increasing since 1978. The Earth’s polar ice caps have changed dramatically over the last 12,000 years. Additionally, in geologic time scales, the ice caps may grow or shrink due to climate variation. Nothing new here…
