We have so many with underwater loans so that the Socialist in Sacramento can create a “forced” labor force to work the fields when the country’s entire economy collapses. Not even illegal-immigrants are going to want to be forced to labor for worthless American Dollars and are going to rely on those who have loans that can’t be paid back. I hope the 99% are listening!

Well SkippingDog, from your comment I presume you believe that ALL people and institutions who file bankruptcy are deadbeats. I agree however that the 2005 Act was useful, useful to the bankers who could make unsecured loans, and useful to the colleges/universities who could skyrocket their tuition/fees since they were awash in student loan money. Where do you think that $2Trillion student loan debt actually went? And that doesn’t even count all that has already been paid back. Wake up!

Making sure that student loan debt could not be discharged in bankruptcy was one of the most useful and sensible things passed into law during the entire administration of GWB. At least the student deadbeats can’t walk away from their debts like bankers did.

I have enough credits for a Master’s degree, but only have an Associate’s. All paid for without going in debt. I’m employed and my wife with a Bachelor’s is not. At least she paid off her loans years before I met her. I’d actually earn more, but until my health improves I’m stuck.
