I live in Fresno. It is not 'feral' here. It is highly industrial (ag). Much of the violent crime is between gang members....let 'em kill each other. Alot of crime is because the state dumps ex-cons here because its cheap to live here...They do what they know how to do. There is still a good bit of 'small town feel' to the area, with that comes alot of leaving doors unlocked and cars unlocked, which makes it easier for the croocks to do their thing.

I like it here. We have a 'rush 30 minutes' instead of a 'rush 3 hours'. You can make a living and own a house. Anything you might want to do in the state is a reasonable drive away. We can get concealed carry permits approved. We have places to shoot. We have lots of wild boar to hunt.

If we could get the state to get out of gun control our crime problems would dwindle....though really, I doubt that anywhere one can be free of crime.

---Illinois does not issue licenses for the concealed carry of firearms, nor does it recognize licenses issued by other states. Illinois is the only state that does not allow concealed carry in some form.

---Some municipalities, most notably Chicago, require that all firearms be registered with the local police department. Chicago also prohibits the sale of firearms within city limits.

---In Chicago, gun owners are required to have a Chicago firearm owner's permit, which costs $100 and must be renewed every three years.

=================================

How's all that workin' out for you, Chicago?

Yeah...I didn't think so.

Read some Victor Davis Hanson, who eloquently makes the case that there really ARE "Two Americas". (Sorry John Edwards - you had the catchy title right, but the concept completely wrong).

There's an America that lives more or less within the rules of law. Then there's another America that lives pretty much completely outside of any such boundaries. You can write all the gun legislation you want to, and it only causes hardship on the former - never the latter.

Rural Central California and Inner-City Chicago are vastly different at first glance, but they are alike in one very important way: both are essentially feral societies.

Gun owners tend to be more conservative, are more likely to vote Republican, are more likely to join the military, and support the troops.

Gun owners support the Constitution, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and know all of the words to the National Anthem. They tend to be family centered.

--everything that liberal Democrats despise. The nexus is that if gun owners are in favor all of these things, guns must be very bad.

Because so many people have an aversion to guns, selfishly and ignorantly they believe that strict gun control regulations make us safer.

I don't know how to fly a plane, but I don't believe that planes need to be grounded to make everyone safer.

The ignorance is astounding. But so is the leftist agenda.

There is only one thing that could have stopped the Aurora, Colorado shooter who recently murdered 12 innocent people and wounded 58 others at a movie theater, and that is another person carrying a gun.

Pro-gun arguments are merely about the rights to keep and bare arms. I never hear anyone argue about keeping a bazooka, M16 or a tank. Most people are merely seeking to to be able to defend themselves and their families.
And the gun control efforts in Australia, Great Britain and South Africa -- utter failure.
