Its interesting, I think, that Romney got Whitman started, and she is now about four times richer than he. I would not have been surprised if she had been his VP choice.

Most of the pundits and commenters who talk about Reagan, purposely omit the fact that he was the first public official in CA to permit public employee-collective bargaining.

I said it before and I'll say it again - Stick a fork in Romney, he's done. I didn't realize that the nexus between Romney and Whitman involved such a long relationship. I had no idea that Whitman got her start as a crony capitalist with Bain. Not too surprising though.

Republicans just don't get it. They keep looking for the next Reagan without realizing that the real Ronald Reagan was nothing like the mythical Reagan. He talked a good game and then gave the democratic socialists everything they wanted. I guess being an anti-communist is enough for the GOP.

One more time - Reagan was a successful politician because he was a first rate political actor, entertainer and communicator. That's what most voters want, someone who is affable, buoyantly self confident, funny and spontaneous. In other words, voters don't respond to stiffs like Whitman and Romney.

I usually avoid presidential debates like the plague but I might tune in tomorrow just to see if Romney's handlers had the back side of the cardboard cutout painted. Maybe they put an add there for Ryan/Rubio 2016 :-)

From 1952 through the 2004 election there was a Dole, a Nixon or a Bush on every republican presidential ticket. Is there anyone else in the party. That was the reason for the Tea Party.
Oh, that's right. There was 1964 with Goldwater and Rockafeller.

All these politicians from political families, like Moonbeam, Gore, the Bushes and Romney, are a bit out of touch. The were born on third base and thought they hit a triple.
Reagan, Clinton and Obama came from nothing and know how to relate to the rest of us not in the political upper class. Tho Clinton and Obama were and are superb lier's, they speak our language.
