This frenzy of public education spending over the last 30 years has brought about a glut of people without the skills it takes to get a job. There is no connection between the business people and the educators. So many times I hear a businessman complaining he has lots of jobs but no one has the right education, the right skills.
I found I was in that catogory. After nearly 15 years of public education, K thru sophomore in collage, I found myself working with nearly illiterate Mexicans in kitchens and digging ditches. I was book educated by had no real 'skills'. Now that I finally have gotten some of those skills, it is too late. I am too old and my body is breaking down.
Even with all the waste in today's education, if there was more of a connection between the business sector and what they need, with the educators, things would be better. But the political side of the unions destains and hates businessmen and profits. But like what they said about socialism, it fails when it runs out of other peoples money. And there is no more money left to steal.

The veteran Democrat lived up to his reputation for bluntness and candor in telling the Voice of San Diego that the bond staff of Poway Unified — which signed off on the district board’s decision to borrow $105 million at a long-term cost of $981 million — should be fired.

Of course they should be fired, but when was the last time a gov trough feeder was canned for incompetence??? Never.
