Prop 30 was won when Los Angeles County went with it, if you reverse LA CO then 30 loses. The large Bay Area counties voted for prop 30 on a 3-1 or 2-1 margin, big margins, but the large So Cal Counties voted against 30 by similar #’s, LA Co turned the tables;

Good question. The polls on 32 were pretty close. I didn’t really expect 30 to pass. I voted for it, and my wife had to work late, so she didn’t cancel me out.

I was presently surprised that Brownbpulled it off.

So what ever happened to all of those predictions that “Prop 30 is toast” and “Prop 30 has no chance of passing”?

When Arnold was sworn in he immediately repealed Davis’s vehicle registration increase. Business flourished, and Arnold was quick to take credit for it.

The next year, business dropped off, tax revenues decreased, but somehow, THAT was not Arnold’s fault?

Ceteris paribus: “all other things being equal or held constant.”

There are many factors other than taxes that affect business cycles and tax revenues.

And taxes as a percent of income are lower now than they have been since the seventies.
