The commuter trains, subways, and light rail systems have taken thousands of drivers off the roads over the course of the past 15 years. Anyone who commutes, experiences what its like right now–imagine if all those who commute to LA every day were back out on those freeways. Not to mention the improvement to the quality of life that many of us who don’t drive freeways are enjoying, thanks to the improved public transit systems.

What happened to all the gas tax, ad-valorem tax, license fees, tolls, and auto-related sales taxes auto drivers pay? Oh yeah, they’ve been diverted to subsidize (mostly) useless public transit systems and totally useless light rail. We don’t have a road infrastructure problem, which is easily paid for by road users, we have a wasteful spending problem.
