Teddy, can you make a serious comment, related to property tax rates, instead of your usual >>> spamming us with your adolescent ad hominem attacks-for once.

I am torn over this, because I think there should be a way for long term held commercial properties (like Disneyland) to be re-appraised after a certain amount of time- not annually but maybe every 10 years, once a decade, that way they do pay a market for a limited period of time.

BUT the problem is I KNOW any and all money raised will go right into the back pockets of the public employees, and will NOT benefit the state or it's taxpayers or citizens as a whole-so why adjust commercial property tax rates if that is what will happen?? Doesn't make sense from that angle.

So for now I will OPPOSE any changes. If the state and gov were more responsible I would like to see a re-appraisal to market tax rates once every decade for commercial properties, like the census.

"PPIC should have the responsibility of educating those they poll before they ask them what their opinion is."

Wayne, I don't dispute what you say about PPIC. I too think they are very sneaky and manipulative in their polling techniques. However I entirely stand by my characterization of Crazyfornian's. There is a sucker born every minute in this state at a minimum. When pollsters call me or in any way attempt to contact me I always tell them no thanks. Sometimes they can be quite persistent. I still tell them no thanks. If they want my opinion they can pay me for it. Smart people don't respond to canned and manipulative poll questions like Pavlov's dogs.

Anyone who gives there opinion to a complete stranger without compensation probably has a worthless opinion to begin with. Lots of Crazyfornians have worthless opinions but that is what counts in a democracy. So, shame on PPIC for gaming their phony polls. But shame on the lame brained residents of this state for being so easy to fool.

Well, if PPIC had asked:

"Would you vote for a third law on the books for a state "rainy day" fund in addition to the existing "Special Fund for Economic Uncertainties" and the "Budget Stabilization Fund" how would you vote?

Favor

Oppose

Don't Know

PPIC should have the responsibility of educating those they poll before they ask them what their opinion is.

Most of the residents of Crazyfornia know next to nothing about public policy matters and have little in the way of skepticism and critical thinking skills so you can elicit any opinion you want from them, even contradictory ones. Californians have a well deserved reputation for irrational, inconsistent and flaky behavior so the results of polls in the state often reflect that.

The real problem here is not so much that groups like PPIC try to manipulate their polls but rather that Californians are so gullible and ignorant that they are entirely susceptible to such manipulations. I have always thought that polling was mostly an exercise in measuring public ignorance but that is what determines election results after all.
