Mommy, what’s a moderate Republican? Never heard of such a thing here in California. Oh, I see, they’re the ones with their heads on a stick.

And BTW, RC59, it’s ridiculous to say: “outside of Detroit, Flint and a few other places…”. That’s like saying “outside of Los Angeles and San Francisco, California is a small state.”

Having lived in MI longer than I’ve been in California, I think there are a few drastic differences. Michigan is the midwest, not the left coast, meaning people there don’t so easily embrace such a leftist social welfare society as they do in CA. But politically MI is much more of a two party state than CA is. Outside of Detroit, Flint, and a few other places most of MI is moderate republican. CA has embraced dems, and dems and unions have an even bigger embrace. Even though more of MI workforce is unionized, they don’t have control of elected officials.

Don’t think it will last long, Hondo. Once the voters realize what their politicians have done to them, they will throw them out. In Right-to-Work states, people like restaurant servers do not even make minimum wage. They must eck out their livings via tips. Love Cali or leave it!

It took the complete collapse of it’s biggest city, Detroit, to get people in Michigan to go republican. Detroit was run into the ground by a series of corrupt democratic mayors with the help of equally bad city councilmen. The big car companies didn’t just leave Detroit for no reason. They fled the horrific violence and corruption. They went to poor southern states to set up shop where the people and the cities and states were happy to have good, high paying jobs.
You can surf the web and see the horrific pictures of that failed city, Detroit. Look up Scott Hocking on google and be prepared to be horrified. When I was young it was one of the greatest cities on earth, with the highest standard of living in the USA for its size. Now it sets the standard for failure in Amerika.
I am afraid that Kali will have to have failures like that to get them to turn things around.

Don’t get all cocky about Union power and Prop 30.
The state of California and all of the major and minor cities in California are going to declare bankruptcy. There is nothing that is going to stop this, It’s just a matter of when.
The state and local government employees might have been promised all the gold in the world as part of their union contracts, but it’ll never be fully paid.

When the bankruptcy courts and governments renegotiates the contracts and pensions don’t expect anybody in the private economy to care.

Great idea, John! You got your butts kicked on Prop. 32, but you propose to keep on attacking unions. You blew Prop. 30, but you want to keep up the same anti-tax, anti-government zealotry that has turned off the moderates and independents who actually decide elections in our state.

Guess you’ve not heard the famous expression: If you’re in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
