As for the 10 round magazines, 10 is still plenty of ammo, and in a semi auto where the clip can be exchanged in less than a second I don’t think it makes much difference if you can them or not, but 10 is a reasonable number to me, of course 5 may be reasonable to the gov 5 years from now, the old slippery slope comes into play.

We have become a violence, drug soaked society, from our foreign policy to our entertainment. Cleary the loony left is willing to have armed TSA agents look up their skirts yet they are only able to sing one song on what is happening in our society when these tragic events happen. That is ban guns.

In fact, there are many other factors involved in this including easy access to powerful legal pharmaceutical drugs that are given to troubled children. The medical profession, parental responsibility (where was the dad?), and media responsibility. Many of us are older and can remember that gratuitous violence was largely absent in the media when we were growing up.

In reality, working together towards solutions we can agree on some things. For example, strong background checks help. I watched a school official note that having armed police on the campuses in Richmond CA has cut down on violence on many levels.

Asking for a dialog the left just wants to do what they want to do, that is ban guns. Opinions on the other side are not welcome and ridiculed.

Such is our fear of we do not want to ban guns. The society they envision for us is a tyranny of ideas where only their ideas and solutions are needed. It’s a society where their special police, TSA comes to mind, is armed and roaming our society searching and imprisoning people who do not fit in to their views of what is a good citizen.

God help us all if we get that far.

As to Judge Burns, I neither respect nor agree with his arguments, which are technically devoid of pertinent facts and legally unsound since he doesn’t even seem aware of U.S. vs. Miller, not to mention U.S. vs. Cruickshank or Presser vs. Illinois.

In U.S. vs. Miller SCOTUS specifically stated that the militia was “all males physically capable of acting in concert for the common defense” and that “when called for service these men were expected to appear bearing arms supplied by themselves and of the kind in common use at the time.” It cannot be denied that AR 15’s and “high capacity” magazines are in common use at this time. Millions of Americans own tens of millions of them. Do an internet search if you doubt me.

Judge Burns may be respected, but on this subject he knows jack squat.
