Thoughts: Obama pushing through funding raises for police to administer strict gun controls and the police supporting it. What comes next if food for thought My point that greed for salaries and pensions can cause gov t abuse. We may not be that much different from other cultures. Hitler was a master at managing the motivations of humans. Sick and evil, but facts are facts. For those who like the gov t taking away the guns from the law abiding, Just think, we will have a Republican back in the White House at some point. Just maybe, the economy under the current president is a disaster: 25% unemployment, safety net torn to shreds, southern boarder a joke. The new president(yes a Republican) has demonized the left and is elected in a landslide, Just perhaps, the president wants to suspend liberties and remove the leftist poison from America. Hitler did that with Communists, which he saw as a competing philosophy for the Germans. Hitler took away Guns. Many of the educated Jewish citizens supported that.

After reading all the proceeding posts, I would like to add a little…

First and foremost I believe in the Second Amendment but, I also believe in a little gun control and I do mean a little. We most all remember that even with gun control all crimes committed with guns will never be stopped. I own and am very proficient with my guns (having been military trained and schooled in the use of firearms).

What is needed is a real discussion on firearms not the usually reaction by our elected leaders. The only time such legislation gets passed is after a major tragedy and it is a knee jerk reaction.

A ban on Assault type firearms to include hand guns is another knee jerk reaction… Lest we forget that the weapon used in the Reagan assassination attempt was a .22 caliber not an assault weapon. It isn’t the weapon that is used it is the individual that uses it.

We may not all agree with what each other has to say but, we should at least hear what is being said and way the options before us. This Country was founded on the believe of freedom and knowledge that all citizens should be afforded the right to bear arms to protect that freedom.

What we should be looking for is honesty on the issue not rhetoric.

Have a great New Year and hopefully clearer heads will prevail.

Well Lou, the Supervisors in SF, as she was at the time, were lowly paid. Her job at that time, had nothing to do with her situation now.

She was an official when two of her collegues were murdered in cold blood. Of course she would have a permit! Having a permit to carry a concealed weapon for self-protection, has nothing to do with assault rifles used for mass murder.

No, I cannot imagine our President doing the same thing that Hitler did, Sean, and for you to accuse SK of being synonomous with an SS guard wearing a swastika band is disgusting.

If you don’t like America, Sean, you are welcome to go!

A fact like that is the reason for the 2nd amendment. Forget the militia wording: the intent to allow for the citizens to replace a self-serving gov t though force if necessary. Certainly difficult to imagine in todays world, but not impossible. Too bad the possibility has to be allowed for.
Hitler gave the police raises to enforce his gov t’w wishes. It is not difficult to imagine our Supreme leader doing the same thing and getting plenty of support from the corrupt and the those with a self-administered Obamamy.

YES= it is absolutely 100% true. She enacted a GUN BAN in SF in 1983, and worked with the local sheriff and SFPD Chief to NOT issue ANY CCW to anyne for any reason (unless oyu knew her or were otherwise “connected” in). There were a total of 9 CCW’s as I recall issued by the sheriff (or was it SFPD Chief??) and one of those 9 was issued to DiFi. Rosie O’Donnell is also anti-gun (ask Tom Selleck), as long as it is not applied to her or her bodyguards.
