Gun related deaths and injuries, including accidents, have been dropping for about 25 years nationally even as gun ownership and concealed carry have become more common. Also, so called assault rifles account for a very small fraction of gun related homicides, somewhere between 1-3%. Far more people get stabbed to death every year than are killed with &quot;assault weapons&quot;. Most gun related deaths are suicides, not homicides and involve handguns, not rifles.
