20 to 40 children drown in 5 gallon buckets each year. Do want to outlaw those too? Bikes? Stairs? People are killed by insane people each year….how about doing something about that instead of taking away my only means of assuring that my govt. is not going to become tyranicle as our founding fathers felt it would without a means to prevent it. Your belief equates to a lack of critical thinking is simplistic and a shame.

Odd, I emailed Feinstein and got a “Out of state ” response. Seems she doesn’t care what I say because she doesn’t represent me. Yet….she strives to pass laws that will impact me. She is WHY the founding fathers wanted us have a second amendment. I asked her “At what price are you willing to pay to enforce this law? Will the ATF officers that took an oath to “defend the country from enemies both foreign and domestic” enforce this law or will they ignore their oath and join you in becoming a domestic enemy?”
She chose not to answer, I assure you that the citizens of this country will answer her even though she won’t ask first.

We could go round and round on this, I’m sure. I believe that more of those 20 children would still be alive today, if that assault weapon had not been available to the killer.

On the subject of abortion–if you want to make it illegal, you need to pair it up with family planning and required sex education in the schools. I would rather see unwanted children prevented from being conceived in the first place–then the only abortions would be for reasons that are private between the expectant parents and the Dr.

SeeSaw, with all due respect I believe you have fallen prey to classic misdirection. The proposed ban is merely the tip of the ice berg. A deeper read into this proposal shows the greater intent. Fingerprinting and photo ID as well as background checks and registration for those already purchased legally. Meaning the law abiding gun owners amongst us have already done this. The bill intends to create a cross reference to be checked against. This is all well and fine but reading further you get the part of transferring these items between private parties. This legislation targets such a wide array of liberties i cant name them all. Second Amendment rights are stripped down to the bare minimum in terms of what can or cant be owned or purchased. This bill would minimize if not eliminate a persons ability to find ammunition for the grandfathered items thus rendering these inoperable. The ability to transfer between two people through private sale is greatly reduced as well. Yeah yeah yeah, gun shows and mssle launchers…old argument and a pointless one. let me know where these type of gun shows are please as I have yet to attend one that offers the weapons of concern. This all leads to disarmament. Look at history. Gold was privately owned and used as a hedge against inflation and yes the depression. What did our government do? Confiscated it and made it illegal to own gold privately. Anti Second Amendment followers dont see the big picture. All they see is the horror that makes the national news and there is the lynchpin. What they dont see is how many crimes and tragedies are averted by private citizens who are equipped and courageous enough to pull their own weapon in defense of themselves and those around them in the gas station or bank being robbed. Diane Feinstein may want to avert tragedy and loss of life on a mass scale and thats fine. Im for that. So in the spirit of averting mass loss of life, Make Abortion Illegal. More lives are snuffed out by abortion in a month than the loss of life by gun violence in a decade. I would advise all to check history and the original writings of the founding fathers as well as check non partisan based fact check sites on this before making a stand. Know where you stand and why you stand there. and for crying out loud someone please get her and her ilk OUT of office when given tthe chance. Your choices affect the rest of us as well

What about my child? Their child? They are being disarmed. I personally don’t care about the magazine size, the background checks, and what is see as a “real” assault rifle (AR-15 and the like [Hate me if you want, but I don’t think your average citizen needs an AR-15]). My problem is this piggy-backing on the supposition that this will prevent mass shootings. It wont. Sure it will make it more difficult to some, but trying to pass a law to prevent law-breakers from breaking law is a like trying to put out a fire with wood. I mean the fact marijuana and heroine are illegal keeps people from doing them right?

Who is being disarmed! The proposed legislation does not take assault weapons out of the hands of those who already have such. It just forbids the purchase of assault weapons by those who don’t already own such, and hadn’t even thought about it anyway. If they had no previous intent to purchase assault weapons, they are not going to be affected by the fact that they might not be able to buy them in the future. So, if you think you must have a Bushmaster, rush out right now and buy one–you will help the economy. If the legislation passes, there are 900 other types of weapons that you will be able to purchase and possess till your dying day.

Dianne Feinstein has served honorably in the U.S. Senate for almost 20 years. So stop the paranoia, already!!!
