Talk about stealing candy from a baby. In Santa Ana, the government school district has been shifting money[2] from kids’ food programs:
“In one instance, the Santa Ana Unified School District billed a $301,000 kitchen roof repair to its student meal program, even after being informed by state officials twice – in writing and in person – that student meal funds could not legally be used to fix the central kitchen’s roof.
“Santa Ana Unified also ordered its central kitchen to routinely provide free meals and snacks to high-level district officials, the report noted, including at twice-monthly school board meetings.”
Of course, given the horrible food served in these schools, the kids were better off relying on food from home, or starving. Two years ago I attended a graduation ceremony of some friends’ child at a school in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, which includes rich Newport Beach. They served the kids an inedible, pasty glop.
This is part of Co-President Michelle Obama’s drive to get anything tasty out of school food programs. The result is low-protein slop of the sort cults use to brainwash their recruits because it keeps the mind dull and submissive.
And if school officials are ripping off this “food” and eating it themselves, that helps explain the dull-witted policies coming from them.
Besides, why do taxpayer have to pay for kids’ food, anyway? Why can’t parents pay for it? And for poor kids, don’t their parents already get EBT cards for food stamps?
