Oh come on, folks. Let’s BUILD the train to nowhere. Ignore the cost.

No one will use it, and after a couple expensive and embarrassing years of empty HSR trains running at huge taxpayer expense, the “service” will cease to operate. Yet this project — rusting idle HSR trains and tracks — will stand for decades as a monument to the folly of Big Government.

The state might even make a few shekels off selling admission tickets to this inoperative “Eighth Wonder of the World” (the world will wonder why on earth we built it) as a tourist attraction — the California version of the Great Pyramids of Egypt.

“Lowenthal cut off Christen’s microphone.”

This is a blatant violation of the Brown Act. It’s illegal for her to cut off an individual’s public comment timeframe to anything less than 3 minutes. This is California case law. Violating the Brown act is a criminal offense, and while not done often, has resulted in fines and jail time.

Lowenthal should be fined and jailed.

California should rewrite its statutes to require board members of regional and state rail and transit entities to be directly elected officials rather than continue the spoils systems where officials are appointed by the governor, or city councils and county commissions. Each rail and transit board would then be more directly accountabile to voters and taxpayers and the marketplace, increasing the probability for improved fiscal control and actionable consequences for poor judgment. Having the Goehring & Christen groups sue the CHSRA for unfair labor practices along with an injunction to prevent any contracts being let until the hiring labor issues were resolved would surly tie up the project for years. Go for the gusto, Eric and Nicole! As for Lowenthal, just another union pimped ‘ho.

Ha-ha! Well, if Lowenthal only had the meeting room for another three minutes, people would like to delay the next hearing? Submit written comments. They’re way more effective. How do you feel about Sensenbrenner cutting off the Democrats’ microphone in the House a few years ago? And he wasn’t dealing with a time constraint. What goes around comes around…

Doug’s comment is ON TARGET. They want to ditch the bonds and fund the thing with taxes on gas and driving.
