Runner-Up #2 — State Senator Bonnie Lowenthal. Last week the Senator presided over what was supposed to be an oversight committee hearing on high speed rail. Lowenthal did such a pathetic and lame job running this hearing that Sacramento Bee columnist Dan Walters called it, “a joke” — seriously. Lowenthal cut-off legislators who were skeptical, limited public comment to three minutes at the end of a hearing she restricted to one hour, turned off microphones of public speakers who said bad things about management of the project, ands he claimed she had to adjourn the meeting because the hearing room was reserved — but it was empty 30 minutes later. Of course the hearing was held the day after the Academy Awards and we know that Ms. Lowenthal had other things on her mind.

Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal sent out that letter to get attention to herself. The California legislature has no jurisdiction over the tasteless jokes of some fool at a private awards ceremony on broadcast television. If she really cares, she would have submitted a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, perhaps jointly with the American Family Association.

On the other hand, the high-speed train will plunge this state into bankruptcy. But who cares? Scrutiny of that project does nothing to get attention to what’s important: Bonnie Lowenthal.

I am blissfully ignorant of Seth McFarlane or The Academy Awards spectacle, which I wouldn’t watch if you put a gun to my head, but if the guy is upsetting a pack of noxious feminist harpies he must be doing something right 🙂

The CA Legislature Womens’Caucus needs to get a life! Of course Seth is raunchy and, of course, we all know that. If you don’t want to watch it, ladies, then don’t watch. The dresses were beautiful!
