Ted Steel, It’s not just Republicans who think Public Sector workers are overcompensated. Many non-Public-Sector Democrats do so as well.

And please, stop say “we taxpayers”. Being someone on the sucking end of the Public Sector gravy train, any taxes you pay now (or ever paid) pale in comparison to the huge sums of OTHER taxpayer’s money needed to fund your excessive Public Sector pension.

Hopefully one day those taxpayers will wise up, find a way to stop funding that pension and pass along a well deserved Public Sector pension haircut.

Proposition B is not sufficient to solve the problem.

Notwithstanding the legal issues, without including CURRENT workers’ FUTURE service in the DC plan (ending any further pension accruals in the current DB Plan) we will STILL be digging the hole we are in even deeper.

And … doing so is both legal and ROUTINE in Private Sector pensions. What make PUBLIC Sector workers so “special” and deserving of not only greater pensions an better benefits …. but FAR greater protections as well (protections that stymie any REAL solutions)?

The President supports higher taxes to promote fairness. HIgher taxes on public pensions are fair, just like they are on the wealthier in our society. john hrabe you failed to mention how well this worked for san jose. san jose voters passed a similar prop and are literally paying the price. hired contractors have taken the place of city employees and costing the 45% more. In fact if you live in the bay area, you may want to avert swimming and boating as the ill trained wastwater contractors have something coming you way, and it doesnt roll “uphill”

The payees should be the retired public employees through a surcharge on their pensions. Many would choose to move out of state, which shows how Cal. loyal they are. Certainly can’t reduce the lifestyle owed to them..the new America brought to you by the baby boomers. DB is more cost effective.
