So glad you are wealthy enough to be able to give your mother’s caregiver a tip at Christmas. Gee, what’s next, Ebenezer, a half-day off on the holiday?

Boy, Hondo, jimmydeeoc and “us citizen” really got their panties in a bunch.

That may be true. The RECIPIENTS may wish to provide moonbeams and unicorns in addition to what’s in Ammiano’s bill.

But whoever’s writing the checks may have another take on the matter.

Then’s the logic of the left, or lack thereof:

Stevie: If that’s the case, then why the urgent “need” for the Bill in the first place?

Or is it yet another hypocrisy of the Left, now numbering in the millions. (“Ohh sure, OF COURSE I support the cause. I am a sensitive and progressive world citizen. But as to ME – personally – I have alligator arms.”)

I have no doubt you, on your own volition, happily pay double the going rate for whatever services YOU consume, right? Childcare, lawn services, etc…..

Raising the minimum wage is a disaster waiting to happen. You raise a $7 worker to $9, then you have to raise the $9 worker to $11 and on up the line. If its a service or product, the owner raises the price to make up for this. Exactly who does this help?

We are not in recovery after the so called great recession. We are still in it. Look around you.

They don’t need your sympathy, Mr. Perkins, they need your support. Right now, home care workers aren’t even eligible for the basic workplace protections, like minimum wage and overtime, that are afforded to nearly every other American worker. They don’t get vacations, they don’t get pensions, they don’t get time off, and many of them have no health insurance.

Furthermore, when home care providers have asked for decent wages and benefits, the people for whom they care have generally supported their cause.

We get it. You and your ideological pals would repeal the minimum wage law and other worker protections. But please don’t try to make us think that the majority of care recipients agree with you. They don’t.
