I like the way you think. The beauty of your suggestion is that when California eventually defaults on it’s debt, the state bond holders who bought those carbon credits will get screwed big time. Let’s hope those sanctimonious global warming zealots invest heavily in California carbon credits.

If California was really smart they’d send a few reps from the state treasurer’s office over to Cyprus to take copious notes on how to swindle the wealthy and anybody else with two nickels in their pockets out of their money.

Lets have the State issue carbon credits to state bondholders in lieu of dollars for repayment.That way California can tell itself that it can meet debt obligations. Why not have CalPers “invest” in carbon credits as they do in green energy projects.The same results, but they will feel good. Math is hard but Government economics is simple. It works if you just pretend.
