As to the seals or sea lions at the Children's Pool, I think you'll find that the Marine Mammal Protection Act is a federal law that prohibits idiots from messing with marine mammals like whales, dolphins, or even seals and sea lions. Every week or two there's a new photo or video of some moron hitting, kicking, or throwing things at seals or sea lions at the pool.

Are you in one of the videos?

Dear Doggy:

All seabird poop ends up in the ocean, if you think about it.

Seriously......think about it......really hard, if need be.

The first mistake was allowing the birds to establish on that piece of LaJolla in the first place. This should not be hard to figure out, as the birds are pretty much indifferent as to what real estate they occupy in the first place....tell 'em to clear out. They'll find someplace else...really they will....

Now that I think about it.....wasn't there a big stink about some salt water pools - also in La Jolla - that were taken over by sea lions a while back?

Yes....I was right.

Silly liberal environmental whackos......You know it IS possible to be a conservationist and protect the environment...without becoming a slave to it. The stupid people in this stupid state have chosen the latter.

It's not the bird poop that's being protected, Chris. It's the ocean, which just happens to be the same local ocean area used by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography for many of their studies that begin with the upwelling currents of the La Jolla Marine Canyon, where all of the bird poop and other urban pollution that would wash off at the same time would quickly settle.

Farmers put up Owl boxes on their farms so the Owls will have a place to nest. These birds are very efficient at hunting down their prey (rodents) on nightly forays. Their excrement also includes the bones and fur of these animals they have consumed. Because of food safety laws, Owl boxes cannot be used on farms because their excrement MAY cause food contamination. Food safety laws have produced another level of Government regulatory 'tin horn bureaucrats' as they try to keep food free of Salmonella, etc. Food safety is very important to consumers and is also a concern for Farmers. Any crops found contaminated by another Gov't agency cannot be sold for public consumption and the producer takes an economic loss. We do not need these agencies increasing our food costs.

Glenn Beck can be a bit of a nutcase, but he's being proven correct about one aspect of the Cloward Piven strategy - essentially enabling an endless feedback loop of contradictory and overlapping bureaucracies, and in doing so creating One Ginormous Cluster****.

Think about it......nothing this nation did prior to 1970 is even remotely possible today, even as technological innovation has made doing them much easier and maybe even cheaper.

Space? Damming the Colorado? The 56,000 mile Interstate System? The California Water Project? Does ANYONE think whatever the latest Delta proposal is will EVER come to pass? Of course not.

We can't even hose off bird poop......in an urban, heavily populated area within city limits no less (aren't there health aspects involved here?)

It's kind of depressing. As I have said, I'm feel as if I am in a 35 year race (actuarially speaking).......do I croak before it all implodes, or vice-versa?

(It's not defeatist, Teddy. It's just reality. There IS still time. I hope I am proven wrong. But right now it does not look good )
