You must be citing the $3billion in public subsidies to the NBA, if you read the book "Public Dollar Private Stadium "you should be more alarmed that voter will has been hijacked Tim and time again. Voters in many cities including CA vote a referendum against public subsidy of sports arenas only to get them and the bill anyway.
Small business are squeezed out of food business by exclusive concessionaires in facilities built my tax money to PAY A BALLPLAYER The $8 million . So blank the player and his high taxes.

The reason K-Jay ( basketball nick name of the mayor)is going nuts is that if he loses the Kings, Sac town is bankrupt. I'm sure he ( and previous mayors) have already spent the future tax money they were supposed to get from the Kings players and owners. That money has already been earmarked for future payrolls and pensions. It would be a catastrophic tax loss to the city. The minute Seattle gets the team, Stockton moves over as the biggest bankruptcy.
Hondo........
Ps, the reason I chose 'Hondo' as my nickname is because I'm a fan of the great Boston Celtic John Havlicek, whose nickname was Hondo.

I remember, in the mid-80's, a lot of California Angels players lived in Anaheim Hills and Newport Beach. I can't think of any that live in their hometown city, right now. Even with the avg. player salary being around $4,000,000. you're looking at around $300,000 in state taxes. And that's just 1 year of state taxes. They could buy a nice home for that amount in FL.or TX.
If I could move my contracting business out of CA, right now, I would. I'm too old to start over. But when I retire, CA and it's ridiculous taxes and anti-business regulations will be "in my rear view mirror"
