The real grassroots Latino parents walked and rallied for the independent voice of African American (and Republican), Tyron Hampton. The fact that he is Republican, and that the liberal elites, including Latinos-by-name-only like Roberta-Bobbie-Martin-Martinez and others not worth mentioning, tried to label Hampton as a tea partier was symbolic of how disconnected the liberal elites truly are. The pendulum is now swinging back and will topple those with their heals deep in the mud.

The frustration parents of all political parties are having with Teacher Union controlled leaders has reached a boiling point…. and people could care less if you sit down to drink tea, coffee or Mate (argentine herb). Parents are realizing that partisan politics that people like Peter Dreier force on us has no place in our local politics.

While 60%+ of the PUSD students are Latino, and about 16% African American, the parents realized that it was the liberal elite political machine and their dying breed who were trying to ram THEIR disconnected candidates down our throats.

This last election was a sweep against the three Latino candidates that ACT, PEF, Peter Dreier and the machine put up. These are the same people who pretend to put the interest of kids first…. while justifying the systems failure on lack of funds.

BTW Wayne, the local teachers' union, UTP (United Teachers of Pasadena), pulled its endorsement of THEIR candidate Ruben Hueso, (a rep for UTLA-United Teachers of Los Angeles) only a few days prior to the general election….. after the Permanent Absentee Vote had already come in. It was a tactic to get the union voters to submit their votes for their candidate (Hueso) AND THEN to try winning the trust of the community at the ballot box by promoting that he WASN'T the union candidate and had lost their endorsement (NO REASON ever given).

That's what you call…. 'a movida' that almost got him elected as he was 20 some

Ruben Hueso ran a terrible out herer in Pasadena, rather than knocking on neighborhood doors, he knocked on the doors of the local liberal elite organizations, like ACT (similar to TEA Party); accepted corporate or establishment Democratic Party money from outsiders; and of course, lunched with the same usual suspects as it relates to the corporate print media in town.

I was not surprised to see he lost to Tyron Hampton, -only by the huge margin, which was nearly a 30-percent switch from the 3/5/13 General Election.

From my perspective, it seems hard work and transparency will always beat the tired political ambitions of a candidate that doesn't seek the endoresements from the Community, but rather Corporate Democratic Party interests. In addition, Tyron Hampton received NO MONEY or SUPPORT from the Republican Party. And again, the Latino population in District 3 can be represented by the right person who works the hardest, regardless of his or her ethnicity or political connections. This political race and its results in D3 reflect the broader change coming to Pasadena and elsewhere.

Thanks for the great article above Mr. L.
note: Hueso's brother along with other Dems need to re-think and do some serious soul searching, otherwise the Republicans, the Greens and P & F Party will gain its rightful ground in 2013 and beyond, especially, if there are volunteers and political activists willing to work as hard as their respectuive candidate(s).
