Honda-- Don't flatter yourself little buddy. You're no Billy Pilgrim, not even a Kilgore Trout. KV would probably see you more as a junior level manager for RAMJAC.

Look it up.

Weed and red wine? Yikes, zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Its not easy for me to admit I've been homeless, a couple times. I have just come 'out', only recently and admitted my past.
Too much red wine and pot.
I work at a feed for the homeless every week (Tuesday nights). It is church based and they can feed a man ( or women or kids) for a fraction of what the govt can, per plate. The govt based feeds by Bloomberg cost so much more per plate. And there is salt at the tables too. No 20 ounce cups though. Only little 8 ounce cups for lemonade (Bloomberg would ban the lemonade). This insanity by Bloomberg to stop churches and private groups from feeding the homeless because of the 'bad fatty salty' food is beyond belief. We serve a dessert at every meal too, which would drive Bloomberg insane. But the men are so happy to get it. It is such a treat for them.
Most the the long term homeless are due to drugs and alcohol. Sure, many have mental health problems, but many of those mental health problems have been caused by the drug and booze addictions. Meth, besides destroying your teeth and face, has known mental health issues involved in their abuse ( there is no 'use' of meth. There is only abuse). In Colorado, since the legalization of Weed, has seen a huge increase in pot use by youths. As minor as marijuana addiction is, compared to meth and crack, it truly affected me badly. I am clean and sober for going on ten years now and it has not been easy. Our society has to take a stand for sobriety. They say 'drink responsibly'. But for most people, the most responsible use of alcohol is the non use.
I'm guessing that limo fire on the bridge where those five women were burned to death had alcohol involved. Someone spilled some whiskey while someone else dropped a match trying to lite a cig, I'm guessing. So it goes.
Billy Pilgrim signing off.

First of all, many are not homeless, like the man in NYC who was given shoes by the NYPD. They pose as such to get money. Second, many are not from CA but come here for the free benefits.

After the government does a solid survey of the "homeless" and their backgrounds I would consider aid but not before.

And if panhandling is allowed, make them get a business license (free, but a conference with counselors required) like everybody else!
