Even more shocking is that he has spent much of his career writing about economic and financial issues.  Most economic and financial writers take the position, and quite correctly, that government is a necessary evil.  We must have some to enable a civil society, but all things being equal, less is preferable to more.  Not Hiltzik.  If Oscar Goodman were to tell it, maybe he, like the President he reveres, is a slow learner.]]></description>
