Teachers Unions are nothing but modern day guilds, and when they then have the audacity to hide behind the “It’s For The Children” s**t screen, I come down with a violent (though temporary) case of Tourette’s…….LOL

I’ve been 8itching about this for years. Any of the commenters to CWD could walk into a classroom this very minute and teach 4th grade math or English. Even the Tedster. As to their success at it – that depends on the teacher’s innate ability to impart enthusiasm and interest. And a teacher either has it or doesn’t, irrespective of an M.Ed.

Home schooling is the answer. More parent participation in their kids schooling is the answer. Not more money. Wash DC leads the country in money spent per student and has the worst test scores and dropout and graduation rates.
Even if a parent can’t home school, and is not educated enough to help their own children, they can go down to the local high school and ask a teacher for the name of an A grade teen girl who can help tutor their child for free or for a minimum wage. You don’t need a masters degree to teach a child basic math or english.
More money is not needed. Better parent involvement is.
