".....California is not well placed to confront the next recession, whenever it occurs."

Hello?

Q1 2013 GDP growth was 1.8%, later revised down to 1.1%.

Q2 2013 GDP growth was 1.7%. The revision amount downward hasn't been revealed yet since the GDP figure was just released.

Based on the employment reports, of 953,000 Jobs Created In 2013, 77%, or 731,000 are Part-Time.

Full time jobs are becoming an extinct species.

Why would an employer hire full-time when he could hire part-time and get exempted from providing his employees with health insurance? But, regardless, the employee is still responsible for buying a health insurance package for himself and his family. If he's one of those employees who makes too much for a government subsidy - he's reemed. He will contribute to paying for all the 'po' folks. And his premiums will go up 10%-20% each year.

Let it all collapse and hope that full-blown fascism does not rear it's ugly head. It's bad enough living under partial fascism. We need to start over. And the boomers need to feel the pain of the injury of which their generation has significant responsibility. No retiring at the cottage on the lake. You broke it. You own it.
